Statement of Faith

A. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by verbal inspiration to God and are our only infallible, complete, and final authority for faith and conduct.
(II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21; John 10:35)

B. We believe there is only one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: the same in substance but distinct in subsistence.
(Matthew 28:19; 3:16-17; John 10:30; 14:7-11)

C. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
(Matthew 1:20-25; Luke 1:30-35; I Timothy 3:16; Colossians 2:9; I John 4:1-3)

D. We believe that God created man in His own image to show forth His glory and enjoy loving fellowship with God, but through the temptation of Satan and willful disobedience, he fell from his original state of innocence; thereby incurring not only physical death, but spiritual death and alienation from God; and that in Adam all human beings inherit a nature which is corrupt, opposed to God, and hence they are incapable of attaining to God's righteousness; and, as soon as they are capable of moral action, become sinners in thought, word, and deed. Regeneration, i.e., new birth by the Spirit, is an absolute necessity for salvation.
(Romans 3:9-23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3; John 3:3-7; Psalm 51:5; Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7)

E. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; that He is the only Mediator and Savior of mankind; and that all who repent and believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
(Isaiah 53:4-11; Romans 3:21-26; 5:6-11; I Peter 3:18; I John 2:2)

F. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of the Lord Jesus Christ by which He conquered death for us, and in His ascension to Heaven, and in His present ministry as our High Priest and Advocate.
(Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39-43; 50-51; I Timothy 2:5; 1 Corinthians 15:3-22; I John 2:1; Hebrews 7:25-26)

G. We believe in the personal, bodily, pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth to receive His own, judge the world and establish his kingdom.
(John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 9:27-28; II Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:1-15)

H. We believe that salvation is wholly by grace and is received by personal experience and faith in Jesus Christ, resulting in regeneration, i.e., the new birth by the Holy Spirit; that this work of salvation is carried forth in progressive sanctification and final glorification at the appearing of Christ.
(Ephesians 2:8-9; Mark 1:15; John 3:3-7; Titus 3:5-6; Romans 8:29-39)

I. We believe that the Christian life is to be continued as it begins; by grace through faith; that the change which regeneration effects will be evidenced by a moral change in the believer's life; that believers should set an example in holy living, practice separation from the world, and continually cultivate spiritual growth toward maturity in Christ.
(Romans 12:1-3; II Corinthians 5:17; 6:14-18; 7:1; Galatians 5:16-25; 6:14; Ephesians 2:10; 4:17-32; 5:1-21; Colossians 3:17; Titus 3:8)

J. We believe that the local church is a Body of born-again believers, joined by the Spirit, voluntarily associated for the worship of God, the spread of the Gospel, and ministry to the building up of the Body of Christ; that the universal church includes all born-again believers of all the ages.
(Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:41-42, 47; 15:1-30; 20:28; Ephesians 1:22-23; 3:8-11)

K. We believe that the local church has right to govern its own affairs under the Lordship of Jesus Christ; that each member should minister to the building up of the Body according to his spiritual gifts, anointing and office; but the ordained offices of the local church are pastor, elders, and deacons.
(Acts 6:1-6; 20:28; I Timothy 3:1-15; 4:14; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4; Ephesians 4:7-16)
The leadership and church may discipline, according to New Testament instructions, any member who departs from the doctrines set forth in this statement, or whose conduct is persistently contrary to Christian standards.
(Matthew 18:15; I Corinthians 5:1-12; Galatians 6:1; II Thessalonians 3:6-15)

L. We believe that water baptism (by immersion) and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during this present age; that they are acts of obedience but not to be regarded as means of salvation.
(Matthew 3:13-15; 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; 8:36-38; Romans 6:1-4; I Corinthians 11:23-29; Matthew 26:26-30)

M. We believe in the Holy Spirit. the third Person of the Trinity, whose purpose in redemption is to exalt Christ, convict of sin, righteousness and judgment. He draws men to Christ and regenerates the repentant. He indwells, comforts and guides believers. He illuminates the Scriptures, gives assurance of salvation and provides for growth in Christ-likeness. He enlightens and empowers believers in worship, evangelism, and service.
(Genesis 1:1-2; John 14:16-20, 26; 15:26; 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 12:3-13; II Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 5:22-25)

N. We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, is for all believers as promised by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:11), Jesus (Acts 1:4-5, 8), and Peter (Acts 2:38-39), was witnessed by early followers of Christ (Acts 2: 9:17; 10:44-47; 19:1-6), and is experienced by many present-day believers. We further believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit should be operating in the church today as a continuation of the ministry of Christ through His Body.
(I Corinthians 12:1-9; Romans 12:1-8; Ephesians 4:7-16; Hebrews 13:8; I Thessalonians 5:19-20)

0. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
(Matthew 25:34,41,46; Luke 16:19-31; John 5:25-29; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8; I Corinthians 15:51-54)

P. Human Sexuality and Marriage:
    1. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that, but not limited to, any form of homosexuality, bisexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one's gender by surgery or appearance.
(Genesis 2:24; 19; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; 6:9-10; I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4)

    2. We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.
(Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; I Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23)

    3. This Church does not recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions. We believe that they are expressly forbidden by God and are in direct opposition to His holy Word.
(Genesis 1:27-28; 2:21-24)
